Quick answer: the best Tidio alternative depends on where your customers actually start talking to you. If the website chat bubble is still the front door, Crisp, LiveChat and tawk.to are the closest swaps, and Intercom is the pick for a strong AI agent with a bigger budget. If most of your customers now arrive on WhatsApp and Instagram, and a good chat should end in a booking, a payment or a task someone owns, Zoye fits better because the conversation lives on the same record as the deal and the follow-up.
Key takeaways (October 2026)
- Tidio lists Free (50 billable conversations), Starter at $24.17 a month (100), Growth from $49.17 (250 or more) and Plus from $300 a month plus usage.
- The Lyro AI Agent is a separate line: from $32.50 a month for 50 AI conversations, with self-serve limits from 50 to 1,000 conversations a month.
- Flows (Tidio's automations) are metered too: from $24.17 a month for 2,000 visitors reached.
- Intercom charges $0.99 per Fin outcome on top of seats; LiveChat includes 10 AI resolutions on Essential and 200 on Growth; Crisp is flat per workspace from $45 a month.
- Zoye prices by plan and team size: Growth is $59 a month ($47 billed yearly) for up to 20 members and includes the WhatsApp and Meta automations, with no per-conversation AI meter.
Why small teams look for a Tidio alternative
Small teams usually leave Tidio for one of three reasons: the bill is split into three meters (human conversations, AI conversations and Flows reach), the AI allowance is small at the entry tiers, and the product is built around a website widget while more customers start on WhatsApp and Instagram. None of that makes Tidio a poor tool. It makes it a specific one.
Here is what Tidio's own pages showed in October 2026.
Three meters instead of one price. Tidio's plans are priced on billable conversations, which its pricing page defines as a live chat, ticket, email or social conversation that includes a message from a human agent. Visitor messages you never answer do not count, and replies from Flows and Lyro are excluded. Lyro and Flows then carry their own monthly charges. A team that budgets for the $24.17 Starter line and later switches on the AI agent and a few automations is paying for three products.
A small AI allowance at the entry tiers. The Free plan gets its first 50 Lyro conversations once, for the lifetime of the account. Starter includes 50 Lyro conversations as a one-off, and the pricing FAQ says you need the Lyro AI Agent plan to refresh the allowance monthly. The standalone Lyro line starts at $32.50 a month for 50 conversations, which works out to $0.65 each at that step, and self-serve plans stop at 1,000 conversations a month. Above that you are in Plus or Premium territory, where Premium starts from 3,000 Lyro conversations with pay-per-resolution billing.
How a Lyro conversation is counted. Tidio counts one Lyro conversation for any customer interaction with at least one AI reply, and a return visit or several replies still count as one. That is a fair definition. It also means a busy week of "do you ship to...?" questions burns the allowance quickly, because even a one-line AI answer is a full conversation on the meter.
Feature steps between plans. Starter has basic analytics and does not offer removing Tidio branding. Growth adds advanced analytics and user permissions, and branding removal is an add-on there at $16.67 a month. A dedicated success manager arrives on Plus, which starts at $300 a month plus usage.
A website-first product. Tidio's comparison table lists WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and email integrations on every plan, which is generous. The centre of the product is still the widget and the inbox behind it: conversations, tickets and an AI agent that answers from your support content. What happens after the chat (the quote, the booking, the deal stage, the follow-up task) usually lives in another tool.
Who should stay on Tidio? An online store or a content site with steady website traffic, mostly pre-sale and order questions, and a team of one to five who want a friendly widget with an AI agent that learns from the help pages. Tidio's Lyro page says customers average a 75% resolution rate, and the 7-day trial with no card makes it cheap to measure that on your own traffic. If that is your shape, the rest of this list is for comparison, not escape.
What to look for in a Tidio alternative
Start by deciding whether you are replacing a chat widget or the place your customer conversations live. A widget answers visitors on a website. A conversation workspace keeps every chat, from any channel, on the customer's record, so the next step happens in the same place. These questions help you sort the options quickly.
- Where did last month's conversations start? Count them by channel: website widget, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, email. If the widget is under a third, a widget-first tool is solving the smaller problem.
- How many meters does the bill have? Seats, human conversations, AI conversations or resolutions, automation reach, contacts and WhatsApp fees. Write down which ones apply and what a busy month does to each.
- What does the AI cost at your volume? Price 300 AI conversations a month on every shortlisted tool. Per-outcome, per-resolution and per-conversation pricing can land far apart.
- What happens after the answer? A chat that ends in "can I book Thursday?" should create the booking, not a note for someone to copy into a calendar later.
- Does the AI ask before it acts? Any tool that sends messages or changes records should show you what it is about to do and keep a log of what it did.
- Is WhatsApp official? Tools built on the official WhatsApp Business Platform are safe for your number; tools that automate WhatsApp Web are not.
- Can you leave? Contacts and chat history should export as CSV.

The 7 best Tidio alternatives in 2026
These seven cover the realistic paths away from Tidio: a conversation workspace built around messaging apps, an AI-first support platform, two widget-first chat tools, a free chat tool, a full help desk and an Instagram automation platform. Each entry opens with the trade-off, then lists the October 2026 price from the vendor's own page and the team it suits best.
1. Zoye - for teams whose customers write on WhatsApp and Instagram, not the website bubble
Start with what Zoye does not do: it does not put a live chat widget on your website, and it is not a helpdesk ticketing suite with SLA timers, a customer portal or a knowledge base. If a website widget that answers from your help articles is the whole job, Crisp or LiveChat below is a closer swap.
What Zoye does instead is run the customer side of a small business from one workspace. It is an AI Business Operator: the CRM, deals, tasks, calendar, documents, invoices, reports, workflow automations, WhatsApp automations, Facebook and Instagram, email tracking and the AI Notetaker already link to each other, and an AI operates all of them. A Tidio chat ends when the visitor leaves. A Zoye conversation ends when something is done: a booking on the calendar, a payment link paid, a task with a name and a date on it.
How the channels work today:
- From the website to WhatsApp. A click-to-chat button and QR code on your site turn anyone who taps them into a tracked lead with a welcome message. Website forms count as a lead source too, and the new-lead auto-message has a separate switch per source (ads, forms, website, API, manual) and sends one message per person. Zoye runs on the official WhatsApp Business Platform and holds these conversations with your leads there; connecting your own business WhatsApp number is coming soon.
- On WhatsApp. Six WhatsApp automations, all off by default and all confirming before anything sends: the new-lead message, a qualifying bot that writes answers straight into the contact's fields, live smart audiences, scheduled broadcasts with pacing, template approval handled for you, and click-to-chat capture. Zoye answers, qualifies, books from one Booking list with reminders, and can send a payment link in the chat (Stripe, or Grow in Israel), moving the deal when it is paid. Anything it should not answer goes to a person with the whole chat on the lead's card. The agent on WhatsApp page shows both sides, for you and for your customers.
- On Instagram and Facebook. Chats is one inbox for Instagram and Facebook messages and comments plus the WhatsApp conversations with your leads, with assignment, team-only notes and quick replies, and every chat kept on the contact card. Zoye replies to DMs and story replies right away with buttons, a file or a message in your brand's voice, and can send a public reply plus a private DM when someone comments a keyword. Lead-ad form submissions arrive as contacts with the campaign and ad name saved.
The difference from a chat widget is the record behind the chat. When a lead asks about price on Instagram, the reply, the qualifying answers, the deal stage and the follow-up task all land on one contact, and the person who picks it up next sees all of it. Want a step to repeat every time? Describe what should happen, from the app, WhatsApp or Slack, and Zoye builds the rule, shows it to you, and waits for your approval before it runs. Every run is logged and can be reversed, deletions and bulk changes always ask first, and if Meta rejects a send you are told why instead of seeing a false "sent".

The overview puts this week's conversations next to the deals and tasks they created, so the follow-up is visible before anyone has to ask.
The honest limits: no website chat widget, no help centre or knowledge-base deflection, no SLA reporting per agent, and Zoye does not run ads (it captures and works the leads ads produce). Your own WhatsApp number is coming soon rather than available today.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Almost Free is $5 a month, or $4 a month billed yearly, for 1 member with the core tools, 15 AI prompts a month and the Google integrations, without automations. Starter is $29 a month ($23 yearly) for up to 10 members with 5GB, Growth $59 ($47) for up to 20 with 10GB, Scale $119 ($95) for up to 100 with 25GB, and Customize is quoted. There is no per-conversation or per-resolution AI meter; plans are sized by the people on your team. See the pricing page for what each plan includes.
Best for: teams of two to twenty whose customers write on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook more than in the website bubble, and who want each chat to end in a booking, a payment or a follow-up.
2. Intercom - the AI-first support platform with seat pricing
Intercom is where many teams look when they want a stronger AI agent than Lyro. Fin answers from your help content and can run workflows. The trade-off is that you pay twice: once per seat and once per outcome, and the bill moves with both.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Essential is listed at $29 per seat a month and shown at $19 for new customers, with a 35% saving advertised. Advanced is $85 and Expert $132 per seat a month, with 20 and 50 free Lite seats. Fin costs $0.99 per outcome on every plan, and when Fin is used with another help desk there is a monthly minimum (the page gives 50 outcomes as an example). Copilot is $29 per agent a month billed yearly or $35 monthly, and each agent gets 10 Copilot conversations free each month. WhatsApp is pay-as-you-go per conversation, and Instagram is not mentioned on the pricing page. There is a 14-day trial with no card.
Best for: support teams of five or more with a solid help centre, where a high AI resolution rate is worth paying per outcome. Our best Intercom alternatives review covers the other direction.
3. Crisp - flat workspace pricing with a real omnichannel inbox
Crisp is the closest like-for-like for a Tidio user who likes the widget and wants WhatsApp and Instagram in the same inbox. Pricing is per workspace rather than per conversation, which makes busy months predictable. The trade-off is that the omnichannel inbox starts on the $95 plan, and AI runs on credits that come in small amounts at the lower tiers.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Free with 2 agents, 100 customer profiles and no AI credits. Mini is $45 a month for 4 agents with $5 of AI credits, which Crisp says covers around 90 automated conversations. Essentials is $95 a month for 10 agents with $25 of credits (around 450 conversations), 50,000 profiles and the omnichannel inbox for WhatsApp Business, Instagram DMs, SMS, Line and Viber. Plus is $295 a month for 20 or more agents with $75 of credits (around 1,350 conversations). Extra agents are listed at $10 a month.
Best for: small teams that want one inbox across the website and messaging apps at a flat monthly price.

See How It Works4. LiveChat - dedicated chat with clear per-user pricing
LiveChat is a mature, polished chat tool with good agent ergonomics and an AI agent bundled into each plan. The trade-off for a messaging-heavy team is that every person who answers needs a seat, and WhatsApp and Instagram appear on the pricing page as marketplace integrations rather than in the plan table.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Essential is $19 per user a month billed yearly or $25 monthly, with 1 AI agent and 10 AI resolutions a month. Growth is $79 per user a month yearly or $99 monthly, with 10 AI agents and 200 AI resolutions. Extra resolutions cost $49.50 per pack of 50. Enterprise is quoted after a sales call. The plan table lists website, in-app, chat page, Messenger, Shopify and SMS through Twilio. Essential and Growth come with a 14-day trial without a card.
Best for: teams of two to ten who staff a website chat during business hours and want a calm, fast agent workspace.
5. tawk.to - free live chat with paid extras
tawk.to is the answer when the question is "can we stop paying for chat?". The live chat, ticketing, chat pages and knowledge base are free. The trade-off is that the business model sits in the extras, and messaging apps are still listed as coming soon.
Pricing (as of October 2026): the core product is free with a "Powered by tawk.to" label. Removing branding costs $29 a month. AI Assist has a free tier for low chat volume and paid plans from $29 a month. Hired human chat agents are offered at $1 an hour. A Messaging product is marked beta and "out soon" with Facebook, Google RCS, Telegram and SMS; WhatsApp and Instagram are not named on the pricing page.
Best for: very small websites that need a widget and a simple help centre on a zero budget.
6. Zendesk - the full help desk when chat becomes a support department
Zendesk is the move when support has outgrown a chat tool and needs ticketing, SLA policies, routing and reporting per agent. The trade-off is weight and price: per-agent billing, messaging channels only on the Suite plans, and AI billed per automated resolution.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Support Team $19 per agent a month billed yearly ($25 monthly), Suite Team $55 ($69), Suite Professional $115 ($149), and Suite Enterprise through sales. AI agents include 5 automated resolutions per agent a month on Team plans and 10 on Professional, then $1.50 each committed or $2.00 pay as you go. Copilot is $50 per agent a month billed yearly, from Professional. WhatsApp and the other social channels come with the Suite plans, with additional fees noted.
Best for: support teams of ten or more agents working a queue all day. See our best Zendesk alternatives if you are weighing it against lighter tools.
7. ManyChat - Instagram and Messenger automation for marketers
ManyChat is not a website chat tool, but it often appears on Tidio shortlists because the real goal is automating Instagram DMs and comments. Its flow builder is the best known in that category. The trade-off is that pricing follows active contacts, so a post that performs well raises the bill, and the subscriber it creates is a chat identity with tags rather than a customer record.
Pricing (as of October 2026): ManyChat's pricing page lists the same figures as our October 2026 review of Instagram automation tools: a free tier for 25 active contacts, Essential from $14 a month billed yearly ($17 month to month) for 250, Pro from $29 ($39) for 2,500, Business from $69 ($99) for 7,500 and Advanced from $139 ($199) for 25,000, each with a per-contact charge above the allowance. AI is included from Pro. Confirm on the live page before you budget.
Best for: creators and marketing teams running comment-to-DM campaigns at volume. Our best ManyChat alternatives guide looks at what to do when the contacts need to become customers.

What 300 AI conversations a month costs: a worked example
AI pricing looks small per conversation and adds up per month. Take a small business with three people answering, 300 chats a month handled by AI and about 150 that need a human, as of October 2026. These are list prices from each vendor's page; Meta's per-message WhatsApp charges, billed since 1 July 2025, apply on top for every WhatsApp tool.
- Tidio: Growth starts at $49.17 a month for 250 human conversations, so 150 fits. Lyro at the entry step is $0.65 per conversation and the Lyro page says conversations start from $0.50, so 300 AI conversations land somewhere between about $150 and $195 a month. Total: roughly $200 to $245, before Flows.
- Intercom Essential: 3 seats at the listed $29 is $87 a month, plus 300 Fin outcomes at $0.99, which is $297 if every conversation counts as an outcome. Total: up to about $384.
- LiveChat Growth: 3 users at $79 is $237 a month with 200 resolutions included; 100 more is two packs at $49.50. Total: about $336.
- Crisp Essentials: $95 a month for up to 10 agents with credits for around 450 automated conversations. Total: $95.
- Zendesk Suite Team: 3 agents at $55 is $165 a month with 15 resolutions included; the other 285 at $1.50 to $2.00 add $428 to $570.
- Zoye Growth: $59 a month ($47 billed yearly) for up to 20 members, the plan that includes the WhatsApp and Meta automations, with the CRM, bookings, payment links and tasks in the same plan.
Read the totals with care. A resolution, an outcome and a conversation are counted differently by each vendor, so these are ranges, not quotes. And price is only half the test: Intercom's Fin may resolve more questions than a cheaper agent, and a help desk will report on agents in ways Zoye does not. The useful finding is how much the meter, rather than the seat, decides the monthly bill.

Explore FeaturesChat widget or conversation workspace: which one do you need?
Pick a chat widget when the website is where buyers make up their minds; pick a conversation workspace when the chat is the start of a sale or a booking that a small team has to finish. The fastest way to tell is to read your last 50 conversations and count how many ended in an answer versus an action.
A widget-first tool (Tidio, Crisp, LiveChat, tawk.to) is right when:
- Most conversations start on the website, from a product page or the checkout.
- Questions repeat and your help pages already answer them.
- The person who answers is not the person who sells, books or bills.
- You care most about response time on the site.
A conversation workspace like Zoye is right when:
- Customers arrive from Instagram posts, lead ads and WhatsApp links more than from the website.
- A good answer leads to a quote, a booking, a payment link or a follow-up task.
- The same few people sell, deliver and answer.
- You want the AI to update the customer record and the deal, not only reply.
Some teams use both: a widget on the store for order questions, and a workspace for the leads and clients who need a human relationship. That works if you decide which conversations belong where. For how AI agents differ from scripted bots, see AI agent vs chatbot.
How to switch from Tidio
A small team can move off Tidio in a few days if records go first and channels go last. Export contacts, save the knowledge your AI agent used, rebuild the few automations that earn their keep, then move one channel at a time so nobody's message lands in an inbox nobody watches.
- Export your contacts. Download your contact list from Tidio as a CSV and keep a copy as your archive.
- Save Lyro's knowledge. Lyro answers from your support content. Keep the help pages and the question-and-answer list you gave it, because the next tool will need the same material.
- List the Flows that work. Check which Flows produced leads or orders in the last three months. Most teams find two or three worth rebuilding.
- Import into Zoye. Upload the spreadsheet, or send the CSV, a PDF or even a screenshot to the assistant, which extracts the contacts and shows them to you before saving. Zoye also imports from Trello and Monday.com if your team tracked work there. Jira, Notion and ClickUp imports are coming soon.
- Rebuild the automations you kept. Describe each one, for example "when someone comments PRICE on a post, reply publicly, send the price list by DM and create a follow-up task for the owner". Zoye shows the rule and nothing runs until you approve it.
- Move channels one by one. Connect your Facebook Page and Instagram account first, add the click-to-chat button and QR code to your website, then remove the Tidio widget. Leave Tidio open read-only for a couple of weeks so late replies are not lost.
If you are also weighing comment automation, our Instagram comment-to-DM guide explains Meta's one-private-reply-per-comment rule and the 7-day limit before you build anything.

Get StartedWhich Tidio alternative should you choose?
Choose by where conversations start and what has to happen after them, not by the longest feature list. A website-led store should keep a widget, a support desk should move to a help desk, and a small team selling in WhatsApp and Instagram chats should pick the tool where the chat and the customer record are the same thing.
- A 3-person service business whose leads come from Instagram and WhatsApp and turn into bookings: Zoye Growth, $59 a month ($47 billed yearly) for up to 20 members, the plan that includes the WhatsApp and Meta automations.
- A store that wants a widget plus WhatsApp and Instagram at a flat price: Crisp Essentials at $95 a month.
- A support team with a strong help centre that wants the best AI resolution rate: Intercom, budgeted per Fin outcome.
- A team that staffs website chat during the day: LiveChat Essential or Growth.
- A small site on a zero budget: tawk.to.
- A support department with SLAs: Zendesk Suite.
- A creator running Instagram comment campaigns: ManyChat, sized by active contacts.
Whatever you shortlist, run the same two-week test: route one real channel into each tool, answer everything from inside it, and at the end count what got done. Not chats closed, but bookings made, payments received and follow-ups with an owner. That number shows which tool is doing the work.
If your customers already message you on WhatsApp and Instagram, book a Zoye demo and bring a week of real conversations to try it on.
