Quick answer: the best Housecall Pro alternative depends on what pushed you to look. Jobber is the nearest swap for the same jobs, Service Fusion removes per-user math, GorillaDesk prices by route, and ServiceTitan or FieldEdge suit larger HVAC and plumbing operations. Zoye ranks first for small teams whose real problem is follow-up rather than dispatch, because every enquiry, quote and invoice gets chased on one customer record.

Key takeaways (October 2026)

  • Housecall Pro lists Basic at $59, Essentials at $149 and Max at $299 a month billed yearly, with 1, 5 and 8 users. Monthly billing costs $20 to $40 a month more per plan.
  • Employee GPS tracking and QuickBooks Online sync start on Essentials; route optimization and recurring service plans start on Max, a $240 a month step above Basic on annual billing.
  • Ten add-ons (including CSR AI, Pipeline, Campaigns and Voice) are named on the pricing page with no price shown.
  • Three of the six rivals here (Workiz, ServiceTitan and FieldEdge) hide pricing behind a request button; Jobber, Service Fusion and GorillaDesk publish theirs.
  • Zoye Growth, the plan that includes the WhatsApp and Meta automations, is $59 a month for up to 20 members ($47 billed yearly), but Zoye is not a dispatch, GPS or route optimization tool, and we say where that matters.

Why service businesses look past Housecall Pro

Most owners who search for a Housecall Pro alternative are not unhappy with the app itself. They hit one of four documented walls: the price step between plans, a user cap that does not match the crew, add-ons with no published price, or a billing setup that is harder to leave than to join. Each one is on Housecall Pro's own pages as of October 2026.

Housecall Pro earns its reputation. The mobile app is polished, online booking, estimates, invoicing, payments and review management are in every plan, and the 14-day trial gives full access to Max without a card. If those features are what you use and the bill makes sense, staying is a reasonable choice. The reasons below are about fit, not about the product being bad.

The jump between plans is large

Basic costs $59 a month billed yearly, or $79 monthly, for one user. Essentials costs $149 yearly or $189 monthly. That is a $90 step on annual billing, and it is where Housecall Pro puts several features a growing team asks for early: routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync.

Max adds the sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support, at $299 yearly or $329 monthly. A business that wants recurring service plans, which are common in maintenance-based trades, pays for the whole Max tier to get them.

Users come in fixed bundles

Each plan includes a set number of users: 1 on Basic, 5 on Essentials and 8 on Max. Max lists extra users at $35 a month each. The pricing page lists no extra-user price for Basic or Essentials, so a sixth person on Essentials means asking sales or moving up a tier. For a crew that hovers around five or six people with seasonal help, that boundary matters more than the headline price.

The add-on list has no prices

The pricing page names ten add-ons: CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Business Coaching, Voice, Campaigns, VGPS and dashcams, Tap to Pay, and Websites. None shows a price as of October 2026 (the page only notes that the proposal tool included in Max is "a $40/mo value"). If two or three of those are on your wish list, the real monthly figure is unknown until you talk to sales.

Payments are a separate line: card processing starts at 2.59% and bank payments carry a 1% fee, according to the same page. That is normal for the category, but it belongs in the comparison, because every alternative below charges its own rate.

Leaving takes a phone call

The pricing page says Housecall Pro does not require long-term contracts. Its help center adds a step: cancellation cannot be fully processed, nor billing paused, until a team member has spoken with the account owner by phone, and the billing team replies within 1 to 3 business days. The 30-day money-back guarantee applies only if it was offered at sign-up, covers only the baseline monthly fee, and excludes setup fees. None of this is unusual, but it is worth knowing before you commit to annual billing.

Who should stay

Stay if your crew uses dispatch, GPS tracking and the customer-facing app every day, your headcount sits comfortably inside a plan, and the add-ons you need are already priced into your account. Switching costs a few weeks of attention, and a tool your technicians already trust has real value.

Seven questions to answer before you compare

Before comparing vendors, write down which Housecall Pro features your team actually opens each week. Most small service businesses use five or six of them. The right alternative covers those well, prices your real headcount without a cliff, and publishes the full bill where you can read it before a sales call.

Use this checklist on every tool below:

  1. Field side or office side? Dispatch boards, GPS and route optimization are field tools. Enquiries, quotes, follow-ups and invoices are office tools. Decide which side is hurting.
  2. Price at your real headcount. Count everyone who needs a login, including the office person and seasonal help, and price that exact number on monthly and annual billing.
  3. Add-ons in writing. Ask for the price of every add-on you would switch on in the first six months.
  4. Billing terms. Monthly, monthly with a 12-month commitment, or annual prepaid. Each vendor uses these words differently.
  5. Follow-up without memory. Does a quote that goes quiet get chased automatically, and does an unpaid invoice get a reminder without someone setting it every time?
  6. Where conversations live. Customers reply by text, WhatsApp, Instagram and email. Check whether those replies end up on the customer record or in someone's phone.
  7. Export on day one. Confirm you can export customers, jobs and invoices as a file, so the next switch is easier than this one.

The 7 best Housecall Pro alternatives in 2026

These seven cover the realistic paths away from Housecall Pro: one operator for follow-up and customer conversations, one near match, two enterprise-grade platforms, one flat-price option, one route-priced option and one phone-centric option. Every price is from the vendor's own page as of October 2026, before payment processing.

1. Zoye: the follow-up desk for crews that already know how to do the work

Zoye is an AI Business Operator. Thirteen connected tools share one workspace, from contacts, deals and tasks to the calendar, documents, invoices, reports, workflow and WhatsApp automations, Facebook and Instagram, email tracking, team management and an AI Notetaker, and an AI runs them for you. For a service business, its job is the part of the week that happens between jobs: answering enquiries, chasing quotes, booking visits and getting paid.

Here is how a typical enquiry moves through it. A homeowner fills in a website form, taps a Facebook lead ad or comments on an Instagram post. Zoye creates the contact with its source, and if the new-lead WhatsApp message is switched on, sends a first reply. The qualification bot asks your questions (what needs doing, the address, a preferred time) and writes each answer into a field on the record. Times are offered in the chat from one Booking list, and reminders go out automatically. The quote you send sits on the deal as a document, and if the deal goes quiet for 7 days, a follow-up fires. When the job is done, the invoice lives on the same record, an overdue invoice gets chased, and a payment link can be sent in the chat (Stripe, or Grow in Israel), moving the deal stage once it is paid.

The owner does not have to sit at a desk for any of this. The same assistant works in the web app, on WhatsApp, by voice note and in Slack. A voice note from the van ("move the Thursday visit to Friday morning and remind me to send the revised estimate") is transcribed and turned into the change and the task. A photo of a business card becomes a contact. Ask for overdue invoices or this week's unconfirmed bookings and the answer comes from live data, not a report someone ran last month.

Rules are built the same way. You describe what should happen, for example "when a quote has been open for five days with no reply, send a WhatsApp check-in and create a call task for the owner", and Zoye builds the trigger, conditions and actions, shows the finished rule in plain English, and waits for your approval before anything runs. Every run is logged with what fired and what changed, and it is reversible. The full set of automations is on the features page.

Zoye task board with follow-up tasks for quotes, site visits and unpaid invoices grouped by stage

The task board in Zoye: every follow-up from a quote, booking or invoice lands as a task with an owner and a date.

Customer messages gather in Chats: Facebook and Instagram DMs and comments sit next to the WhatsApp threads Zoye holds with your leads, and each conversation can be assigned, annotated for the team and answered with a saved reply, then stays on that customer's card. Connecting your own business WhatsApp number is coming soon, pending WhatsApp approval; today the WhatsApp conversations run through the official WhatsApp Business Platform. Moving from Housecall Pro is a spreadsheet import, and the assistant can also pull records out of a CSV, a PDF or a screenshot you send it.

The honest limits. Zoye is not a field-service dispatch tool. It has no dispatch board, no GPS or vehicle tracking and no route optimization, and it is not a point-of-sale system. If your day is run from a dispatch map with six trucks moving, keep a dispatch tool for that and use Zoye for the customers, follow-ups and conversations around it.

Pricing (as of October 2026): Zoye prices on the people in the workspace, not on technicians, routes or contacts. The entry plan, Almost Free, costs $5 a month or $4 on yearly billing and gives one member the core tools, the Google integrations and 15 AI prompts monthly, but no automations. Starter costs $29 a month or $23 yearly and covers up to 10 members and 5GB, Growth $59 ($47) for 20 members with 10GB, Scale $119 ($95) for 100 members with 25GB, and Customize on quote. See the pricing page.

Best for: home-service teams of 2 to 15 people whose jobs get done well but whose quotes, bookings and invoices slip between the cracks, especially when customers prefer to message rather than call.

2. Jobber: the nearest match, with a cheaper solo tier

Jobber covers the same ground as Housecall Pro: online booking, quotes, scheduling, invoicing, payments and a client-facing experience. The catch is a pricing grid with three billing options and team-size tiers inside each plan, so the number on the page depends on choices you make at checkout. Our field service management software guide covers where it fits in the wider category.

Pricing (as of October 2026): Core is $29 a month billed yearly for 1 user, $39 on monthly billing with a 12-month commitment, or $49 with no commitment. Connect runs from $99 a month billed yearly for 1 user to $149 for 5 users; Grow from $149 for 1 user to $229 for 5; Plus from $399 for 5 users. Extra users are $29 a month each. Marketing Suite ($99 a month), AI Receptionist ($29) and Pipeline ($49) are add-ons below Plus. QuickBooks Online sync starts on Connect, custom workflow automations on Grow. Jobber was advertising introductory discounts for new customers when we checked, so the first-year bill can be lower than these regular prices. Annual prepaid is non-refundable, and the committed monthly option has a 12-month minimum. Card processing is 2.9% plus 30 cents.

Best for: owners who like Housecall Pro's model and want a similar tool with a lower entry price for a solo operator.

3. Workiz: built around the phone line

Workiz is aimed at on-demand trades where jobs arrive by phone: scheduling, estimates, invoices, jobs and payments, plus Genius add-ons for phone, answering and marketing. The limitation for a buyer is transparency: as of October 2026 every Workiz plan shows "Request pricing" instead of a number.

Pricing (as of October 2026): hidden on the pricing page. Plans are Standard, Pro and Ultimate. Standard includes 5 automations, Pro 10 and Ultimate 30; Ultimate adds service plans, sales proposals, inventory, flat rate, checklists, multi-day jobs and franchise management. Add-on prices (Genius Phone, Genius Answering, Genius Marketing, Workiz Pay) are not listed. A 7-day trial needs no card.

Best for: teams whose work mostly arrives by phone call, who want call tracking and lead handling inside the job tool and do not mind negotiating a quote.

4. ServiceTitan: the platform for large trade contractors

ServiceTitan is the heavyweight of the category, built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other trade contractors that run call centers, dispatchers and large technician teams. For a crew of four it is usually more system than the business needs, and the price is not on the page.

Pricing (as of October 2026): hidden. The pricing page lists Starter, Essentials and The Works, each with a "Request Pricing" button, and describes the pricing as per technician. Onboarding fees and contract terms are not stated on the page, so ask for both in writing.

Best for: established contractors with a dispatcher, a sales team and dozens of technicians who need depth over simplicity.

5. FieldEdge: HVAC and plumbing dispatch with an onboarding specialist

FieldEdge focuses on residential and commercial service contractors, with dispatching, service agreements, a flat-rate price book and QuickBooks integration. It does not offer a free trial, and its pricing is quote-only.

Pricing (as of October 2026): hidden. Plans are Select, Premier and Elite, with 2, 4 and 6 mobile app licenses included respectively, and an onboarding specialist on all three. The FAQ says pricing varies with team size and add-ons, and downgrades take effect at the end of the current contract period.

Best for: HVAC and plumbing businesses that want a dispatch-first system with structured onboarding and are ready for a sales process.

6. Service Fusion: unlimited users at a flat price

Service Fusion's selling point is the opposite of Housecall Pro's user bundles: every plan includes unlimited users. The trade-off is a higher starting price, which only pays off once several people need logins.

Pricing (as of October 2026): Starter $208 a month billed yearly or $245 monthly, Plus $325 or $382, Pro $533 or $627, all with unlimited users and no contract (annual billing saves 15% and is charged upfront). Job costing and photo uploads start on Plus; eSign, a customer web portal and recurring invoicing on Pro. GPS fleet tracking and ServiceCall.ai are add-ons with no listed price.

Best for: crews of eight or more, or businesses with many office and part-time users, that want headcount out of the pricing conversation.

7. GorillaDesk: priced by route, not by person

GorillaDesk is built for recurring route work such as pest control, lawn care, cleaning and pool service. Its model is unusual: office, sales and manager users are unlimited at no extra charge, and you pay for each schedule (a technician or crew on the road).

Pricing (as of October 2026): Basic $49 a month, Pro $99 and Growth $149, each with one schedule included. Extra schedules cost $50 each on Pro; on Basic, schedules 2 and 3 are $50 each and later ones $30; on Growth, the second is $100 and later ones $50. Yearly billing gives one month free. There are no setup fees or contracts, and monthly plans can be frozen for seasonal businesses. A text number is $5 a month, with SMS credits from $50 per 1,000 messages. QuickBooks Online sync, online booking and GPS device tracking start on Pro.

Best for: recurring-service businesses with one to five routes and a few office staff who should not count as paid seats.

Housecall Pro and the alternatives at a glance

The table puts the seven next to Housecall Pro on the facts that change the bill: whether the price is public, the entry price, what makes the bill grow and whether the tool does dispatch. All figures are from each vendor's own page as of October 2026, before card processing.

Service FusionYes$208/mo yearly, $245 monthlyPlan tier only (unlimited users)Yes, GPS as add-onNone
GorillaDeskYes$49/mo (1 schedule)Schedules on the roadYes (GPS from Pro)None

Two notes. Automations are part of Zoye's Growth plan and above, so for a service team the realistic Zoye starting point is Growth at $59 a month ($47 billed yearly) for up to 20 members. And "Dispatch and GPS: No" for Zoye is a real limit, not a footnote: if the dispatch board is the reason you bought Housecall Pro, compare Zoye as a companion, not a replacement.

How each bill moves as a crew grows from 3 to 9

The cheapest tool at three people is rarely the cheapest at nine, because each vendor charges for a different thing: plan bundles, team-size tiers, routes or nothing at all. Follow one business through a year of growth and the gaps become obvious. Figures are October 2026 list prices on annual billing where offered, before payments and add-ons.

Spring: 3 people. The owner and two technicians share one van.

  • Housecall Pro: Basic covers one user, so three people means Essentials at $149.
  • Jobber Connect: the 5-user tier at $149 beats the 1-user tier plus two $29 seats ($157).
  • Service Fusion Starter: $208, the same at any headcount.
  • GorillaDesk Pro: one van is one schedule, so $99.
  • Zoye Growth: $47 billed yearly ($59 monthly), the plan that includes the WhatsApp and Meta automations, covering the customers, enquiries, quotes, bookings, invoices and follow-ups, without dispatch or GPS.

Autumn: 9 people. The owner, an office coordinator and seven technicians across four vans.

  • Housecall Pro: nine users is past the 8 included in Max, so Max at $299 plus one $35 seat, $334.
  • Jobber Connect: the 10-user tier at $229.
  • Service Fusion Starter: still $208. This is the point where unlimited users start to pay off.
  • GorillaDesk Pro: four schedules, so $99 plus three at $50, $249, with the coordinator and owner at no extra charge.
  • Zoye Growth: still $47 billed yearly, because 20 members are included.

Two patterns show up. Housecall Pro's bill more than doubles across the year because the crew outgrows Essentials and then the 8 seats included in Max, while Service Fusion's does not move at all. And a team that needs routing can split the job: a route-priced dispatch tool for the vans plus Zoye for the office side. At nine people, GorillaDesk Pro with four schedules plus Zoye Growth comes to $296 a month on these numbers, below Housecall Pro Max, with quotes, follow-ups and customer conversations kept on the customer record. A team that books only a few jobs a day and does not need GPS can run on Zoye alone. Re-run the sums with your own headcount and billing option before deciding.

How to switch from Housecall Pro without losing customers

A clean switch takes two to four weeks: export everything, import into the new tool, run both side by side for one billing cycle, then cancel. The order matters, because Housecall Pro's cancellation needs a phone conversation with the account owner, and you want every file in hand before that call.

  1. Export the customer list. Housecall Pro's help center describes it: on the Customers page, open Actions and choose Export, and the file arrives by email. Only admins can download it, so check your role first.
  2. Export jobs, estimates and invoices. Pull whatever reports cover open estimates, unpaid invoices and recurring work. These are the records that cost money if they go missing.
  3. Note your recurring schedules and price book by hand if they do not export cleanly. A short spreadsheet is enough.
  4. Import into the new tool. Zoye imports from a spreadsheet, and from Trello and Monday.com if any of your work lives there. Jira, Notion and ClickUp imports are coming soon. You can also send the assistant a CSV, a PDF or a screenshot of a report, and it extracts the records.
  5. Run in parallel for one cycle. Book new work in the new tool while finishing open jobs in Housecall Pro. Upgrades on Housecall Pro apply immediately; plan changes and the end date of your current billing period are worth confirming with support.
  6. Tell customers once. If invoices or booking links change, send one short message explaining what will look different.
  7. Cancel by phone. Start the request in the support chat, expect a call within 1 to 3 business days, and confirm the end date in writing.

If you are moving to Zoye and your customers already reach you on WhatsApp, the move is also the moment to turn on follow-ups. Our guides to WhatsApp appointment reminders and connecting WhatsApp to a CRM cover the setup.

Ready to hand off the busywork?

Zoye brings AI-powered CRM, task management, and automation into one workspace.

Get Started

Picking by the problem you actually have

Match the tool to the job that hurts. If dispatch and GPS are working and the problem is price, compare Jobber, Service Fusion and GorillaDesk on your exact headcount. If the business is large and dispatcher-led, get quotes from ServiceTitan and FieldEdge. If the field work is fine and the leaks are follow-ups, start with Zoye.

A few typical shapes:

  • A solo operator booking two or three jobs a day: Jobber Core at $29 billed yearly, or Zoye if most of your customers write before they call and you want quotes and invoices chased for you.
  • A 3 to 6 person crew where quotes go unanswered: Zoye Growth, at $59 a month ($47 billed yearly) for up to 20 members, for the office side, with a dispatch tool only if you have more than one van moving at once.
  • A recurring-route business with a few technicians: GorillaDesk, priced by schedule, with office staff at no charge.
  • A growing crew of 8 to 20 tired of seat math: Service Fusion's unlimited users, with GPS priced as an add-on.
  • A large HVAC or plumbing contractor with a call center: ServiceTitan or FieldEdge, with onboarding and contract terms in writing.
  • A phone-led trade that lives on inbound calls: Workiz, after a pricing call.

Whatever you shortlist, run a two-week test with real work: book five jobs, send five quotes, chase every one that goes quiet, and invoice two. At the end, count how many quotes got an answer and how many invoices got paid without you remembering to ask. That number decides better than any feature grid.

The bottom line

Housecall Pro is a capable tool with a clear structure: three plans, fixed user bundles and a list of add-ons you price with sales. Teams leave when that structure stops matching their headcount or their budget, or when the work that slips is not in the field at all. Pick the alternative that fixes your actual leak, price it at your real size, and keep your export files before you call to cancel. If the leak is the follow-up, book a Zoye demo and bring three quotes that never got an answer.
